There are no obvious weak points on this Vikings roster. The interior of the offensive line does raise a few concerns but the Vikings have also made moves this offseason that should be able to alleviate the problem. They have built a super team that should win the NFC North and compete for a first round bye in the NFC playoffs.
Unfortunately for them, the NFC is filled with super teams. They play a first place schedule this season, pitting them against all the other “super teams” in the Rams, Saints and Eagles. Their cross conference matchups have them facing the AFC East. Although the AFC East may be the weakest division in the NFL, a matchup with the Patriots could easily turn into another loss.
The Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions are shaping up to be talented teams themselves within the division. Although Minnesota is better than both, those four matchups this season are more chance to slip up in a playoff race where 5 losses may not be enough to earn a top two seed.
The Vikings are one of the best teams in the NFL and should expect to compete for the Super Bowl this year. They play in the toughest division of a tough NFC, though, and that may stop them from separating from the rest of the pack.
Standings: First in the NFC North
Playoffs: #3 seed in the NFC
